To: Big Copper @ Extreme Upstream of Our Global Supply Chain From: Your Midstream & Downstream Users/Consumers Copper is already 80% re-cycled -- at the midstream of the Supply Chain. But we still need more and more from your mines, and endlessly so. The global supply chain is singularly ever beholden to copper as much as we are to Mother Earth herself. We know extracting ore is not only not easy but is very hard work for the workers. There is little incentive to change your definition of a mine plan, their waste streams or the current definition of mine closure. But waste and tailings are sprawling, doubling land base, waster usage, waste streams, supply lines, and encroachment on Indigenous cultures, tourism, agriculture, and archeology. Water Desal sounds great, but is it? and what about artisanal fisheries, added fossil fuel usage? We are sympathetic with you that Ore Extraction requires huge waste piles of rock and tailing waste ponds. But perhaps new thinking can breed new solutions if we think together. The Clean Copper Supply Chain Alliance has been established to create a forum where external thinking can infuse the Extractives industries. The Extractives Sector is at a turning point, beginning with the acknowledgment by Institutional and NGO investment that Big Oil's assets are Stranded. It is never looses its properties nor combusts. It has been the backbone of Civilizations' economies for over 8,000 years.
